April has rushed by with the speed of an angry cheetah, and I am thoroughly surprised that I was able to finish anything hobby related this month. That being said, this month’s unit shows the importance of picking an elite army for your hobby competitions, even the ones that have nothing on the line, as elite armies can be a bit more forgiving when it comes to crunch time.
This month I did my horde of Drakkon riders. Here they are in all their glory!
I rather like how this unit turned out. I know they’ll see a lot of use on the table, considering how valuable a unit they are. I do wish that I’d had one more dragon to put on the base, as it feels a little empty, but sometimes with our hobby things can get a bit pricey, especially for pure aesthetics; these dragons are not cheap models. They’re pretty, don’t get me wrong, but spendy, and on top of that I didn’t have the time to wait for new ones to be delivered. So I went the way of MMC for this unit and am happy to have it done.
At this time, I wanted to do what I’ve heard a lot of podcasts suggest for an army project. I want to take a moment and really look at what I’ve accomplished since it started in January, and with that in mind, I took the following picture, which showcases everything I’ve done for this army (minus the troop of Palace Guard I have standing in front of the archers. They were my test unit for this army and were done awhile ago).
I’m really loving how this army is coming together, and I look forward to seeing it when it’s fully complete. That’s all for me this month, and I’ll look forward to seeing what all comes about in May for the Samurai Elves!
April Bragging Points: 3 for painting and basing a new unit worth 250+ points (Drakkon Riders are 270 buck naked)
