Greetings, everyone. My name is Mike Rossi and I’ll be running Forces of Nature for this campaign. I’m an old Warhammer player who, like a lot of people, transitioned to Kings of War at the advent of 2nd Edition. I’m primarily a Dwarf player, but the campaign is chock full of Dwarves, so I decided to branch out and try a new army. I’m the US Masters rep for the Northeast Region and also a co-host on the Unplugged Radio podcast. Lastly, I’m the author of the Bannermen, a serial story presented here on -/28.
For anyone who’s listened to our podcast, you know that I’m a very slow painter, so the chance to participate in a campaign without having to paint anything was really appealing :). I also jumped at the chance to try an army with a varied and different play style to what I’m used to. All of my Kings of War games so far have been played on a tabletop, and I’ve never used an interface like Universal Battle before. In my previous conversations with (Sm)Ashley, she’s spoken highly of UB. So I’m excited to get some experience with Universal Battle, which will let me play people from across the globe.
My army will be led by Tree Herder Yuil Drassil, the Lord of Many Branches. He has felt the disrupting presence of the Night Stalkers in the ruins to the south and is attempting to both protect the inhabitants of Shesham and warn the surrounding towns about the lurking menace. To this end, he’s enclosed Shesham in a thick wood, meant to hamper contact with the outside world. Within the town, fruit-bearing trees, vegetable plants, and grains have sprouted up from every bare patch of ground in order to feed the townsfolk. The town has become an oasis of abundance, but at a price. All of the forges and tools used to make weapons of war have been removed. The wooden handles have rotted away and the metal has rusted into dust. Some of the townsfolk marvel in delight at these miracles, while others pray to their gods in fear. Yuil presented himself to the inhabitants of Shesham, and explained to them why he has chosen to protect them from the alien menace. Some of the townsfolk grumbled, but most took a practical view and counted their blessings when dealing with powerful forces beyond their ken.
When the campaign begins, Yuil will have arrived in the town of Windy Hills to grant them the same protection. How the inhabitants of Windy Hills, and their Basilean protectors, respond awaits to be seen.
“…the campaign is chock full of Dwarves, so I decided to BRANCH OUT and try a new army.” 😛
I love Yuil Drassil’s motivation in the campaign – very original!
