There is perhaps nothing more universal to our hobby, then the eternal struggle to follow thru on an army project from beginning to start. The process, often haphazard, slow, and chaotic, is something that unifies us as miniature wargamers.
While each person approaches this process differently, with different end goals in mind, for each gamer, it is a process filled with challenges; successes and disappointments, high points and lows. This article series, Kings of Hobby, is a chance for you the readers to follow the progress, or lack there of, of a group of us here at -/28 in this gaming pursuit.
The Rules
The rules are fairly simple, participants start an army project for the column. Each month they will earn hobby points for a variety of things, based on how well they are hitting monthly goals.
The participants will post monthly updates, in the last week of the month, discussing how their month went, as well as making goals for the next month. Each month participants will be attempting to paint 250 points.
The challenge will last for 6 months, and at the end, we will crown a Fearless Hobby King of -/28!
Hobby Points
- Increasing the army by painting and basing 1 new unit, character, monster, or warmachine -1 point
- Painting and basing 50% of the monthly point goal – 1 point
- Painting and basing 100% of the monthly point goal – 2 points
Starting in April, once armies have reach 1,000 points, challengers may earn hobby points for playing games with their forces as well.
