Final Kings of Hobby: Billy

Hey guys! I’m back with my final installment to our Kings of Hobby challenge. First of all, this has been an incredibly fun ride and an amazing way to encourage me to paint stuff. Let’s take a look at what I was able to accomplish over the last six months.

First, let me talk about how I have been a real big bum and haven’t painted anything for this army this month. I know I’m supposed to be the hobby guy, but honestly life has just gotten in the way and I’ve needed to paint some other stuff to take my mind off of things. So while I didn’t earn any points for this last month, I’m still proud of what I painted. Plus, Austin and I went 4-1 at Blues City Brawl with the army. Molochs for life!

I finished these Lower Abyssals/Succubi/Succubi Lurkers first as kind of a test for the army scheme. I’m still really proud of how the shields came out. Plus they made one of my friends uncomfortable, which is definitely a win. Since I used them as Succubi Lurkers at BCB, I’ll call this 225 points.

Next, I banged out two hordes of Molochs. People might be wondering why I made Molochs and the answer is 100% because these models are cool. That’s all. I could use them as Despoilers since they have the same base size, but I don’t necessarily want to be that guy. They were a ton of fun to paint and turned out pretty cool if I say so myself. 400 points.

Then, of course, I painted the Abyssal Archfiend. I knew this thing was good, but holy crap was she good. Archfiends are amazing. Single handedly the most fun unit in the army to play with. Obviously I took wings and Lightning Bolt on her, so she comes to around 325. I did, however, want to run Whip of Celerity on her because…look at that whip, but I ended up having points to give her Brew of Haste which is just the best.

I went on to complete a troop of Gargoyles, Ba’su’su and Demon Lord Bael for a total of 660. I felt kind of cheap painting only Demon Lord Bael for last month, but I have just been crazy busy with life. All in all I completed something like 30 models. Not terrible, especially considering that I’ve been painting other stuff in between.

My total points completed for these six months is 1365. Probably the worst 1365 point list I could come up with (also not legal since Lurkers are irregular), but I painted the models I wanted to, got to brag about getting all the points month after month, and did pretty great at the GT I painted these for. The Kings of Hobby Challenge has been an awesome experience and I can’t wait for the next big thing for Dash 28!

That’s it for me, signing off for the last time.

Your favorite cool guy,

Billy.
