The Counter Charge Spring Painting Challenge

Hello Dash 28 readers,

Jeremy from Counter Charge here and I am excited to tell you all about the Counter Charge Spring 2020 Painting Challenge!  With many tournaments, gaming events, and conventions getting canceled due to COVID-19 the Counter Charge family wanted to help support the community during this time of isolation and quarantine.  With the goal of fellowship and communication in mind Counter Charge will be sponsoring a hobby and painting challenge starting on 3/25/20 and concluding on 4/30/20.

What’s the deal?

The challenge will have the following basic categories that you can enter models into, you can enter into as many categories as you wish, in fact it’s highly encouraged.  We’ll have some really cool prizes from our friends over at Mantic Games and Westfalia Miniatures.

  • Unit
    • This category could be a Kings of War troop, regiment, horde, legion, a traditional squad from any Sci-Fi game, or a Warband or Strike Team for any sort of skirmish game.  Just think any unit or squad from most miniature games will work for this category.
    • This category will also have a special prize go out for the best unit with 100% Mantic Models provided by our friends at Mantic Games!
  • Hero – standard 20-25 MM individual on foot or mounted
    • Think of any standard 20-25mm hero model.  This model can either be on foot or mounted.   Any leader type character will do for this category.
    • This category will also have a special prize go out for the best Mantic Model provided by our friends at Mantic Games!
  • Monster, Hero on Monster, or Vehicle
    • This is the category for you if you want to paint a large monster, a hero on a monster, or a big cool vehicle.
    • This category will also have a special prize go out for the best Mantic Model provided by our friends at Mantic Games!
  • True Enthusiast Category
    • People who enter models into the three categories above will compete in this category!  Finalists for this category will have awesome entries from all the main categories.
  • Best Army
    • If you want to work on a full army project, we got you covered!  Any Kings of War army 1000 points or more can be entered into the best army category.
    • This category will have a bonus prize from our friends at Mantic Games no matter if your army is 100% mantic or not!

How do I enter?

Starting on 3/25/20 if you want to participate in the challenge you need to submit a picture of assembled and or assembled and primed models on the Counter Charge Facebook page and state which category you want to enter into with the models pictured.  We will have a submission thread marked as an announcement. Make sure to start your Counter Charge Facebook post with Spring Painting Challenge 2020. I will be monitoring the Counter Charge Facebook page and keeping lists of who has entered into which categories.

For those of you without Facebook, you can submit via email, just send submissions into robertphaneuf@gmail.com.

How do you decide who wins?

At the end of the contest the Counter Charge Team will be selecting finalists in each category and posting polls in the Counter Charge Facebook group for our listeners to vote for their favorites!  For the Mantic sponsored prizes the finalist will be voted on by Mantic employees.

It’s lonely to paint by myself, what should I do?

You should come on to Counter Charge After Dark and paint with us!  If you haven’t tried After Dark it is a longstanding hobby google hangout that many of the Counter Charge audience takes part in.  Also, during the painting challenge we will have door prizes and raffles going on randomly during certain After Dark sessions.

We can’t wait to see what YOU come up with!
