Now the map looks thus:

The Historian’s Record

In the winter of the year 3864 the fields at Kavus did stain the snows red with the colors of contention.

At long last the Captain did return to his starting position and did push the dreaded Hag Zoraida from the edges of his boundaries. The witch went grudgingly, slinking ever further into the ruins which she now desperately clung to as a last vestige of hope. She cursed the walking tree spirit for his spiteful campaign against her, and for sending his defeated foes to trample upon her dark home!

Those curses fell on deaf ears as Yuil Drassil struck down the powerful Burgus Stoneheart upon the slopes of the mountain side. Upon seizing control of the dwarven elemental spirits he did enter into an unsteady agreement with the diminutive warriors, and like all the others who had fallen before the Tree Herder’s might, Burgus rallied his troops and marched south to the Ruins of Vrett to face against the witch there.

Having tasted victory after victory, the forces of the Golden Horn began to suffer from their greatest weakness: their hubris. Reconsidering their former agreement with the forces of nature, the Basileans decided that it was not in keeping with their tenets to break bread with a forest spirit and so turned their attentions to the steadily growing fold of Yuil’s small empire. The Tree Spirit was not pleased with this turn of events and a slowly kindled wrath sprung to life, threatening to ignite into literal fire as the Tree Herder hurried to meet his former ally.

Meanwhile, King Billiam, still smarting from the recent defeat turned his eyes east to see another interloper threatening to invade his territory. The Captain, now flush with triumph over the hag of the swamp, now dared to invade dwarf lands!? Billiam would not stand for this and quickly readied his troops for battle.

That was November for us! It was a bloody stage of battle and at present it’s looking as though Mike might take it by a landslide. Can no one stop the implacable advance of the forest?

Find out next month as we have

Chris vs Mike

Alex vs Jake

Ashley vs Billy

Thanks. Sorry for the late article, the holidays have us all scrambling to get things done on time! We might be a little late next month, too, with the same excuse… erm… reason! But rest assured, we have two more rounds to complete for the campaign and we will follow through!

Until next month and Happy Holidays!

About Ben Stoddard

I've been a gamer since I discovered D&D back in junior high. Now, several decades later, I've had a lot of experience playing games in several small communities and how to break the ice with players within a small social circle. I've also learned how to be involved with a national and global community through social media and networking to help deepen my experience with this hobby. I love Kings of War and I love to tell stories through the games that I play. I often times will run campaigns and tournaments for my local scene and I travel to at least one big tournament a year outside of my state, sometimes more. This is a great game, and I'm happy to be a part of the community that is pushing it further into the light of mainstream tabletop gaming!
